Stranger in This Town

I just got back today from Mississippi and New Orleans. I spent the last week there working on the coast helping people dig themselves out of the hurricane damage. Me and a few law school buddies went down there right after Christmas and have spent the last five or six days living in tents or gynasiums, sleeping on the ground or in cots, cutting up trees with chainsaws, handing out food and basic living supplies, tearing up broken-down brick walls, hauling garbage, shoveling gravel and having an all-around wonderful time.
Meanwhile, for those living there, it's been five months of hell. With federal and state funds seemingly drying up, the damage remains more done than undone. So many people living with nothing. Let us please remember them in our prayers. Posted by Picasa
